On 16th January 2016, I created my first Youtube Channel.
It was raining outside my house. The drains were choked. So there was some flooding on the road. The water must be ankle deep. The cars were moving on the road creating waves. I was standing in my balcony and for no reason at all - I shot a two minute video of the scene.
Just for fun I uploaded my video on Youtube without any editing. That's how my first Youtube Channel was born.
Surprisingly this video received 200 views. I think 50 of these people who must have watched my video may be family and friends. But I was wondering - who were the rest?
This just for fun activity piqued my interest in Youtube.
I started wondering - what would it be to become an Youtuber? I started watching Youtube Videos. Reading about Youtube. Following some big Youtubers. I even enrolled into some programs that taught - How to become a youtuber?
This was all curiosity nothing serious so far.
After that one video I did nothing on Youtube until 3rd of August 2018 (i.e. two years later).

Yes, that's how I started my Youtube channel.
I started my real Youtube Channel in July of 2018. The first video I uploaded was a Channel Trailer. On 3rd Aug 2018 my first video was published. At that time my channel was called, "Startup University."
From everything I had learned so far, I knew that I had to pick some niche. In my case I wanted to make videos for software engineers who wanted to grow in their career or become entrepreneurs.
Hence the name “Startup University”.
Moreover, I wanted a grand opening for my channel. I was like everyone is waiting for this day.
First I created a beautiful channel image and uploaded it. Then I crafted the about page. Next, I decided on some playlist on my channel. Finally, I created a channel trailer.
Don't you think having a channel trailer even before having a few videos on the channel is lame? I don't know what I was thinking back then. But you can see that I was really naive as far as Youtube was concerned.
My Youtube Dreams come crashing "Down".
Every youtuber thinks he can make a viral video on first attempt. I was no different. I thought my channel trailer was cool to go viral.
I crafted the channel trailer with love, dedication and hard work. I also found that startup university and youtube channel trailer are good keywords.
I was certain my 1 minute and 25 second video will go viral. But then time always reveals the truth. And truth is always bitter.
So my video did not go viral. On the. . .
First day, it had 127 views and I was delighted.
Second day, it had 57 views and I was still happy.
Third day, it had 32 views and I was still hopeful.
Fourth day, it had 41 views and I was like wow it is growing by 25% over the previous day.
Fifth day, it had 27 views and I was watching.
Sixth day, it had 23 views and I was anxious.
Seventh day, it had 2 views, all my excitement and enthusiasm was down and my dreams had crashed.
Always remember that REAL Youtuber's never Quit - they just make one video after another ! If you building your first ever Youtube Channel then you just have to survive beyond your first video. Views, Subscribers or Watch Time may not happen in your first video. You have to try making 10 or 20 or 30 or even 100 videos but never give up. Even Pewdiepie would be nobody if he had given up within his first 100 videos.

Whoever said this was going to prove true in my case. One video is not going to become the death of my Youtube channel.
“Quitters never win and winners never quit,” I kept repeating this.
I started working harder on my channel. Trend or idea, Keyword, Research, Script, Shoot, Upload and Share. I started following a process for each and every video of mine. I stopped looking at views & subscribers.

I was making videos. I was following a process. I was studying my analytics. Rinse and Repeat.

Everything has changed on my channel except for the process - You can see how the subscribers, views and watch time has changed on my channel with every passing month and every additional video, but what has not changed is my process.
